Shooting: Marcello Attard wins the Telefunken Cup

Young Gozitan shooter, Marcello Attard won the Telefunken Cup at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges on Sunday 10 July 2016, beating Noel Scicluna in the Gold Medal Match, 12/15+3 hits to 12/15+2 hits.

In the semi-final, both Attard and Scicluna hit 13/15 targets.

In the Bronze Medal Match, Ian Grima finished in third place overall as he defeated Jason Sciberras with the score of 12/15+2 to 12/15+1.

In the semi-final, both Grima and Sciberras managed 11/15 hits.

The two other shooters, who did not make it through to the Medal Matches after the semi-final stages were, Ian Dalli and Paul Sant, who finished in fifth and sixth place respectively, with the scores of 10/15 hits and 8/15.

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with;

Class A

Ian Grima 43/50

Paul Sant 43/50

Marlon Attard 40/50

Class B

Marcello Attard 45/50

Noel Scicluna 43/50

Jason Sciberras 41/50

In the meantime, Maltese Skeet Shooters competed in the European Championship, at Lonato Italy with Clive Farrugia placing 26th out of seventy eight shooters with a decent score of 119/125, while Bozhidar Dimitrov finished in the 68th place with the score of 105/125.

The MSSF Shotgun Skeet Programme will continue on Sunday, 24 July 2016 at the Bidnija Ranges with the MSG Trophy.
