Score in UK’s Eley-NRSA Benchrest Shooting Competition

Patrick Azzopardi from On Target Shooting Club – an affiliate of the Malta Shooting Sport Federation, today convincingly won the Benchrest 0.22 Rifle Shooting Competition which was held at the 50m rimfire shooting ranges at Maghtab. This competition was the first in a series of three which was held under the auspices of the National Smallbore Rifle Association of the UK and sponsored by the British international ammunition firm Eley Ltd.

Eight shooters took part in this competition which was held under cold and blustery wind conditions where, however some excellent scores were achieved by these determined sport shooters. Patrick Azzopardi placed first with a nearly perfect score of 399/400 and was followed by his wife Suzanne in second place scoring an excellent 392 points in the process. Dr Mario Spiteri placed 3rd with another high score of 387 points.

These results will now be sent to the the UK Smallbore Rifle Association so that these Maltese shooters can be classified with thousands of other foreign shooters participating in this highly popular competition by clubs from all over Britain.
The competition was judged by NSRA representative and licenced RCO, Lawrence Darmanin and assisted by Ms Sonia Bezzina Wettinger of Maghtab Shooting Ranges.
