Schembri nets his first goal in Cyprus

This was a positive weekend for the Maltese International Andre Schembri in Cyprus. Not only because he scored his first goal but also because he was on the starting lineup for the very first time since joining the Cypriot club.

“This game was very important for me because till now I only played a couple of minutes every game and I was working hard to put my name in the starting lineup. I am very satisfied with my performance and obviously scoring is an add on to this positive game” Schembri said.

Omonia Nicosia played against Enosis Paralimni and Schembri’s team won 2-0. Leandro opened the score for Omonia on the 88th minute and Schembri sealed this victory on the 90th minute.

The Maltese flag was represented on both sides of the pitch since Enosis Parlimni’s goalkeeper is the Maltese International Andrew Hogg.

After 2 months in Cyprus, Schembri is now aiming to be in the starting lineup regularly although he said it is very difficult due to tough competition between the high caliber of players.

Omonia Nicosia’s next match is against Doxa, next Saturday 3rd November 2012
