The Saints consolidated their second position in the standings, and this was their third victory over Sirens in five matches, with one game ending even. Sirens, fresh from their win over Sliema, shared a low score opening period, and San Giljan then opened up a three goal advantage, with their first three strikes coming from penalty throws.

Sirens clawed their way back, to even matters, but before the halftime buzzer, the Saints eked out a minimal lead, at 5-4. After the break there was a cold shower for Sirens, as they conceded three goals without reply, and San Giljan could start the final session sitting pretty on a four goal advantage. The Saints kept their end up, but late in the match Sirens replied with a brace of strikes, which didn’t really affect the outcome of the game, and San Giljan made doubly sure with the last goal of the encounter.

Sirens weren’t so accurate in their man ups, as in their last match, and only converted once from five. Clint Mercieca obtained a hat trick for them. San Giljan had five numerical advantages, scoring two goals in the process. Filip Trajkovic scored five times, and is now their top scorer. Nikola Sutic’s contribution was a hat trick.

Valletta are still chasing the league leaders, Marsascala, as they recorded their third straight victory over Otters. The first part of the game was a close affair, with the lead changing hands three times in the first period. The Citizens then twice went in front, in the second session, but the two teams were level at the interval, at 5-5. Valletta then took a winning advantage after the break, with a three goal lead, before the two teams shared the next four goals. In the last session Otters drew very close once more, to a goal behind, but Valletta then restored their lead, and could cruise home till the final buzzer.

Otters failed to score in their two meagre man ups. They had their two foreigners with three goals each. Valletta had an extra player in the water on four occasions, and scored in two of them. For them Robert Munkascy obtained a poker of goals, and Timmy Agius with three strikes.
