Samuel Deguara visits Malta

Samuel Deguara, the Malta International player  who is on the books of Benetton Treviso the Serie A team is in Malta on vacation. To keep himself in shape he is turning out with players from Athleta Basketball Club on their weekly scrimmages.

For the past five years, Deguara has been selected to play with the national team of Malta and is part of the starting lineup permanently. As far back as 2006, the maltese player was scouted during European FIBA Under-16 championships.

Deguara joined Benetton Basket Treviso in 2007 at 16 years of age, carrying a two-year experience with the Naxxar youth Basket team and the Under-17 and Under-19 National teams of Malta.

It is a known fact that when the player arrived at Treviso, it took him a  while to get used to the environment and the Italian culture but after some months, he learned the Italian language and integrated gradually. 

The player is currently living at a guesthouse in the outstanding Ghirada Sports Centre, owned by the Benetton family.  He is currently playing on loan with BVO Caorle, but he still trains with the first team of Benetton almost every day at Palaverde Villorba.
