Mr. Jean Paul Sammut Chairman - Malta Basketball Referees Association

During the Annual General Meeting of the Malta Basketball Referees Association, Chairman Jean Paul Sammut informed the members that he was not contesting for the post due to personal reason. The members thus agreed to keep the post of chairman vacant and asked Sammut to reconsider his decision.

In the meantime the members voted to set up a commission to update the statute of the association to give the committee more strength and flexibility to operate. An extraordinary general meeting was held in the second week of September where the members of the association met and discussed with the statute commissions the recommendations and voting was carried out on the recommended changes. The set up of the committee now consists of the Chairman, General Secretary and Treasurer that are elected by the members, and the same committee has the right to appoint to office any other members as required.

Another extraordinary general meeting was held yesterday, 27th September where the committee members according to the amended statute had to be elected.

The elected members were, Chairman – Jean Paul Sammut, General Secretary – Emanuel Mangani, Treasurer – Clive Terribile.

After the Extraordinary General Meeting Mr. Brian Sly- Referees Director within the Malta Basketball Referees Association gave a seminar on the basketball rules changes that being implemented from this season.
