This weekend, young Rodren Vella will be having his first experience at the Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norwich, UK, for the 6th Round of the 2015 Tegiwa Civic Cup Championship.

Unfortunately, Bernard Galea who ranks 4th in the Championship will not be joining him because he did not secure enough sponsorship, and motor racing is a very expensive sport.

Rodren is currently in 6th place of the 2015 Civic Championship with 125 points after 5 Rounds.

His best performance was, of course, his win of the second race at Anglesey Coastal Circuit in Wales, while the 6th and 5th places in the two races at Silverstone were another very good result.

It is possible that Rodren will express himself better at the 3 mile Snetterton Circuit than he did at Silverstone.

The circuit at Snetterton is very different from the way it was when I pursued the racing technique course with Jim Russell’s International Racing Drivers’ School 50 years ago!

The only two corners that practically remain the same are Riches Corner and Coram Curve. There are now two main straights, pit straight now called Senna Straight and Bentley Straight. The former Norwich Straight and the following Hairpin have now disappeared.

Instead, the other corners are Montreal hairpin, Palmer, Agostini, Hamilton, Oggies, Williams, Brundle, Nelson, Bomb Hole and Murrays – quite a handful!

Once Rodren learns this difficult circuit, he is expected to do well. All the Maltese followers of the sport wish Rodren the best of luck and success this weekend.

The qualifying session is scheduled for Sunday at 10.30 am UK time, the first race is scheduled for 14.50 UK time, and the second race is scheduled for 17.50 UK time. These times are subject to change and it is hoped that the weather will be kind for our driver who is not accustomed to racing in the wet.

The two Civic races will again be broadcast on Motors TV, and Rodren will be proudly displaying the “” logo on his car.
