Rio 2016: Maltese Olympic Athletes given warm send off

This Friday 29th July 2016, aquatic athletes gathered at the National Pool in Msida to give the country’s Olympians a warm send-off ahead of their journey to Brazil to Olympians Andrew Chetcuti and Nikki Muscat. Muscat will be heading to her second Olympic Games.

The president Mr.Joe Caruana Curran received and encouraged tge Maltese Athletes who are to participate in Rio Olympics that us to be held from 5 – 21 August 2016. Commending the athletes for the determination they demonstated to reach to this level, president Caruana Curran called on all athletes to enhance efforts to take the national sport to a higher level of excellence. Also present at the function were Malta Olympic Committee Secretary General Mr.Joseph Cassar, Swimming Technical Committee Secretary David Bonello, Swimming National Team Coach Artem Goncharenko and Sirens New Head Coach Craig Gibbons and national team swimmers among others.

Each athlete heading to the Olympic has received National Team Swimming Caps and Momento from Sirens.
