Revived Tarxien haunt Birkirkara – Six goals in an entertaining match

Tarxien Rainbows produced a brilliant performance to registered their second successful win against Birkirkara, ironically under mentor Patrick Curmi who was still Birkirkara mentor six weeks ago. Tarxien won the game with a 3-2 scoreline.

The Stripes took an early lead through youngster Rowen Muscat but the Rainbows took full advantage of a shaky Birkirkara defence, to turn the score in their favour by man of the match Rodrigo Andreis Galvao and own goal by Rodrigo Pereira. Birkirkara equalised through Spanish striker Avila Perez, but again Patrick Curmi had the last laugh as Galvao scored his second and the third for the Rainbows to sent the Blues in the middle part of the table with ten points from ten games together with Balzan Youths and Marsaxlokk

Birkirkara stayed fifth with sixteen points from ten games as they suffered their fourth defeat of the season.

First Half

2min: Tarxien Rainbows started well as Rodrigo Galvao’s low shot cross found no one.

4min: Birkirkara opened the score as Rowen Muscat slotted the ball pass David Cassar after he was served by Terence Vella.

32min: Rodrigo Galvao beat the helpless Jorge Mora with a fine acrobatic shot.

33min: Birkirkara react immediately as Trevor Cilia’s effort was turn to a corner by Cassar.

Second Half

56min: Tarxien took the lead for the first time in the match as Rodrigo Pereira deflected the ball in the net after a corner by Caio Garcia Suguino

63min: Birkirkara equalised through Avila. Fenech’s shot was blocked and Avila’s diagonal shot beat Cassar for the second time.

67min: Tarxien Rainbows react immediately as Rodrigo Galvao header hit the upright before beatingJorge Mora for the third time in the game.

Six goals in an entertaining match

Sliema Wanderers and Qormi shared six goals in an entertaining 3-3 draw in today’s first ecounter at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The result was fair as the two sides were coming a positive encounters against Mosta and Valletta respectively.

Qormi now have seventeen points from ten games, joined third with Floriana and are now are on a three match unbeaten run, while the Blues have been without a victory for 5 games and have fourteen points from ten games in sixth place.

Former Sliema Wanderers midfielder Joseph Farrugia was on form as he scored two past his former employers and also produced a man of the match performance.

The Black and Yellows opened the score in the 12th minute as Farrugia converted from the penalty spot as Bulgarian Rumen Galabov handled the ball in the box.

Minutes later another Bulgarian this time Mitev levelled for the Blues as his powerful shot beaten former Sliema goalie Matthew Farrugia.

In the second half Qormi regained the lead as Nigerian striker Daniel Nwoke tapped in the net after Joseph Farrugia free kick hit the crossbar.

Sliema react immiedatly as Jackson Lima equalised as his powerful shot gave no cahance for Farrugia.

On the 63rd minute Sliema took the lead for the first time in the game, Rumen Galabov header beat Farrugia after a corner by his countryman Mitev.

Qormi were back on the level terms. Again Joseph Farrugia was their hero with a trademark free-kick that had the better of Curmi.
