Regatta clan mourns it-”Tram”

Sunday, July 11, 2010, 11:03

It is with great grief to report the passing away of ex Regatta rower George Zammit known as it-Tram. Mr. Zammit has had a brilliant career as rower for many Clubs but his main success was registered when he used to compete for the Marsa Regatta Club. It-Tram was also instrumental in the year that Marsamxett Valletta won their last September Regatta Shield.

Regarded as one of the top rowers and surely one of the best ever standing rowers (nofsiera) Mr. Zammit has spent his last years of his life encouraging and coaching youngsters to take up Regatta rowing. His son Redeemer Zammit has been an up and coming promising rower and has recently also featured in some recent Regattas.

May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

Gorg was one of the best rowers in the Kanal he was instrumental both with our Club( Marsa Regatta) whom he loved and supported and also when he rowed for Valletta and Senglea which in both cases he won the shield. His showed greatness not only in the kanal but also as a person his humility made this person one of the greatest ever. Thanks Gorg you’re still be remembered for many years
