Qormi secure Premier League status for next season

Qormi secured Premier League status for next season after a dramatic 2-2 draw against now relegated Vittoriosa.

Qormi’s coach Stephen Azzopardi opted for offensive 4-3-3 formation. Michael Borg Olivier, Cleaven Frendo and Jorge Santos Souza formed the trident forward line. Qormi suffered their tenth defeat last week, 1-0 against Hibernians

Vittoriosa coach Winston Muscat also opted for a 4-3-3 formation. Nigerian Anthony Ewurum, Brazilian Jorge Santos and youngster Leighton Grech formed the trident forward line. Bottom place Vittoriosa kept their slimmest chance of survival alive last week with a 1-0 victory against Hibernians.

First Half

24min: Vittoriosa goalkeeper Jean Matthias Vella saved a Michael Borg Olivier powerful shot after he was served by Cleaven Frendo.

45min: Carlos Compaganoli free kick was off target.

Second Half

59min: Jorge Santos Silva opened the score after his header anticipated Matthew Farrugia to make it 1-0

60min: 2 in 1 minute!! Anthony Ewurum made it 2-0 with a well placed shot.

81min:Jorge Santos Souza header reduced the gap to 2-1.

84min: Peanalty for Qormi!! Joseph Farrugia converted from the penalty spot to seal Qormi’s premier league status for next season 2-2.

90min: Penalty for Vittoriosa!!Matthew Farrugia saved Edison Dos Santos penalty.
