The game was played in a fast tempo and all defenders were kept busy. The first scoring chance fell to White Hart’s Tony Azzopardi but his flick on the turn just missed the near post with Chircop beaten.  8 minutes later Saul Halladay for Qormi put through Jonathan Aquilina whose flick at goal was well saved by Vassallo Agius.  On the 21st John Borg caught the White Hart defence napping however Vassallo Agius saved well his double effort.  On the 26th White Hart won a short corner but Tua’s deflection just missed the goal.  In the second half White Hart started on top, producing a couple of scoring chances with Chircop effecting a good save on Torpiano with the same player flicking the ball over the bar from a short corner action a minute later. On the 40th Andre Ghio denied Tua from opening the score for White Hart when he cleared a ball destined for goal with Chircop out of position. But then suddenly Qormi took hold of midfield and forced a series of short corners.  From one of these Sarcia first hit the post and then the same player on the 53rd from another short corner opened the score with a lightning push shot to the top corner of the net.  White Hart response was immediate and pinned their opponents in their own half but in a counter attack on the 61st Qormi struck again.  Saul Halladay receiving the ball inside the attacking 22m area advanced towards goal, rounded Vassallo Agius, and pinpointed a pass to the unmarked Philip Magri to tap in Goal No. 2.

This goal demoralized White Hart and it was no surprise for Qormi to add goal no. three through Steve Tanti who slapped the ball in, following a rebound off the goalkeepers pads.

Now Qormi are just one win away from winning this year’s championship.

Played under a constant drizzle this match was a rather scrappy one with both teams showing no system of play.

Rabat went immediately on the attack and on the 7th could have gone ahead hadn’t it been for a save by Waylin Abdilla on Branko Radajovic.  At the other end Busutill Leaver  missed a scoring chance for Floriana. On the 18th Floriana won a short corner from which Christian Bonello put Floriana ahead with a fierce drive to the lower corner of the net.  3 minutes later Floriana almost snatched goal no. two had it not been for a double save by Ian Azzopardi on Marvin Vella.  In the 25th minute Rabat equalized with a  fluke goal. Shawn Falzon’s back pass across the D knocked against the  Goalkeepers stick for the  ball   to end up in the net.  The second half was more or less the same as the first with both teams showing no enthusiasm.  On the 50th Rabat scored from a short corner set piece through James Azzopardi who beat Abdilla with a neat flick. Rabat could have added to their tally but found Abdilla wanting with two point blank saves.
