Qormi Hockey Club is a team which has a great history in the local Hockey scene. Next year the Club will celebrate its 40th anniversary making it the oldest Hockey Club on the Maltese islands. It’s not an easy task nowadays for a club to last this long with all the problems faced throughout the years but Qormi has managed to overcome these difficulties and finds itself once again on the summit of Maltese Hockey.

This year was a memorable one for this Club as all its teams have won their respective league titles. After a seventeen year absence, the senior team has won the Championship for the 4th time in its history. This honour was well deserved as the team won 11 out of the 12 games played and were declared winners 4 games before the end of the season. Apart from winning the League, the seniors also won the Super Cup which was the last game of the season where Qormi HC ran out 5-1 winners against Floriana YS.

The Reserves team which consists of young players who are on the brink of playing for the seniors won the league title for the 3rd time which is also a national record. This was a highly competitive league which was decided on the final day with a 3-2 victory over Rabat.

In the 3 junior categories, Qormi were dominant throughout and led all the league tables from start to finish. The Under 16 team needed just a point from the last game against Sliema HS and achieved it with a 2-2 score line. The Under 14 team dominated the league by winning all the matches it played. This was the 4th consecutive year in which the Under 14 team has won the title. The Under 12 team won all the tournaments organised and so won the Under 12 title for the 4th successive year as well.

In the forthcoming year, the Club needs to carry on working hard to build on the successes achieved this year. The Club nursery will once again try to take a group of juniors to take part in an international tournament. Qormi HC’s juniors have always recorded good results when competing with foreign teams. The senior team will once again take part in the European Hockey competitions. The seniors have already taken part in European competitions and last year won promotion to the 2nd division. The Club would like to thank all those who in one way or another helped the Club throughout such a wonderful season.
