Qormi   2         Rabat   1
Qormi managed to turn defeat into victory after being a goal down. Their continuous pressing merited their victory and they now occupy third placing on 20 points from 10 games while Rabat are in penultimate placing having only 7 points from 9 games.
There were very few actions worthy of note in the first period, the first two were created by Rabat. Jamie Muscat released Isaac Galea in the area and a defender cleared the ball to a corner and from Andrea Bugeja’s flag kick Muscat headed slightly out and Muscat served Abela on the right flank and Qormi keeper Erik Grima neutralised the ball from his cross.
In the first action by Qormi Shamison Zammit served Kyle Spiteri with a cross from the right and after his shot was partly cleared Dormond Micallef drove out from the rebound.
Rabat came close to open the score on two consecutive occasions. Muscat dribbled past an opponent  and Grima saved his shot from outside the area in two attempts and the ball missed the bar by inches with Grima beaten from a shot by the same player.
In the 35th minute Rabat opened the score when after a run down the right flank by Bugeja he veered to the right edge of the area and after trying his luck with a rising shot Grima fumbled the ball as he was dazzled by the sun and it ended at the back of the net.
In the fifth minute of added time Qormi restored parity with a choral move between three players. Gilmour Azzopardi released Ryan De Giorgio on the left flank who then served Micallef with a cross in the area who shot past Rabat keeper Jamie Azzopardi.
The second period was more action-paced.Rabat won a free kick outside the area after Nicholas Ciantar was fouled and the ball was cleared away from the shot by Muscat.
In the first action by Qormi, De Giorgio dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and after crossing the ball in the area there were no takers to apply the killer touch and minutes later the same palyer served Zammit in the area who square-passed the ball to Azzopardi and from a very ideal position he skied the ball.
Rabat came very close to take the lead in the 61st minute when Bugeja back-heeled the ball to Abela and after serving Andrea’ Mallia in the area the ball missed the upright by inches from his header, and minutes later Grima saved the day for Qormi as he thwarted Bugeja with a diving save after he was put through in the area by Abela.
Six minutes before the end of normal time Qormi scored the winner as Matthew Coppola served De Giorgio on the right flank who after advancing scored with a hard and low diagonal drive.
