Proġett ieħor ta’ suċċess għal SportMalta

Matul din is-sena skolastika SportMalta b’kollaborazzjoni mad-Direttorat għall-Promozzjoni tas-Saħħa u Prevenzjoni tal-Mard varat il-proġett Schools on the Move f’diversi skejjel.  Din l-inizjattiva kienet immirata lejn tfajliet adolexxenti bl-għan li dawn ikunu iżjed attivi waqt il-ħin tar-rikreazzjoni.

Kowċis taż-żfin minn SportMalta żaru l-iskejjel u hemmhekk għallmu grupp ta’ tfajliet rutina taż-żfin f’attività ta’ Dance Fitness.  Iżda il-proġett pilota mar pass iktar milli ta’ sessjoni taż-żfin lill-istudenti mill-kowċis professjonali, filfatt waqt dawn is-sessjonijiet uħud miż-żgħażagħ ġew mgħallma ħiliet ta’ team leaders bl-iskop li dawn ikunu jistgħu jkomplu l-programm waħedhom mingħajr il-gwida tal-kowċis.

Dan propju hu l-iskop ewlieni ta’ Schools on The Move fejn grupp ta’ żgħażagħ qed jiġu mħarrġa biex ikunu indipendenti u fil-ħin liberu tagħhom ikunu jistgħu jinvolvu ruħhom f’attività fiżika.  Il-proġett jaħseb ukoll biex jindirizza problemi ta’ bullying u peer pressure li jistgħu jeżistu f’din l-età tenera għax permezz tal-attività fiżika wieħed faċli jinsa d-differenzi u jħaddan għaqda u solidarjetà.

Biex ikun assigurat suċċess f’dan il-proġett bħalissa għaddejjin numru ta’ seminars biex it-team leaders ikompli jitħarrġu sew sabiex l-programm jitkompla fis-sena skolastika l-ġdida f’Ottubru li ġej.   Minn naħa l-oħra l-kowċis ta’ SportMalta se jkomplu jwessgħu Schools on the Move hekk kif se jidħlu f’numru ta’ skejjel oħrajn biex finalment dan il-programm jinfirex fl-iskejjel kollha ta’ Malta u Għawdex.

Another successful project for SportMalta

During this scholastic year SportMalta in collaboration with the Directorate Health Promotion and Disease Prevention launched ‘Schools on the Move’ in a number of schools. The project is aimed at teenage girls mainly to encourage them to be more active during the recreation sessions. Dance coaches from SportMalta visited the schools and introduced an activity “Dance Fitness” to a group of students. However the pilot project also trained team leaders so that the exercise routine  would still be held even in the absence of the coaches guidance.

As a matter of fact the “Schools on the Move” programme provides the necessary tools to the students to become independent and physically active during their free time. Moreover the project addresses bullying and peer pressure that can be addressed through physical activity resulting in unity and solidarity amongst the team.

To assure a successful outcome of this project SportMalta is currently holding a number of seminars for the team leaders do that they will be fully prepared to continue the programme in the upcoming scholastic year in October. On the otherhand SportMalta coaches will enlarge the programme by introducing it in more schools so that ultimately “Schools on the Move’ will be in all the schools across Malta and Gozo.
