Aaron Chiantar and Dominique Martini of team Chaudron grabbed their first pole position of the Italian Grand Prix with a time of 3:21.59s to lead the V1 Class in the one hour qualifying session held early today (Saturday). In fact Chaudron was amongst the first V1 boats to cross the start-finish line and were through turn one in what turned out to be a dramatic and incident-filled first race at the Grand Prix of Italy, which was stopped after a first corner spin-out by Tommy One after the start lap, forcing officials to bring out the red flag.

The Maltese boat was the protagonist of further drama when before the restart Championship leader’s Aaron Chiantar and Dominique Martini pulled off the course and limping back to the pits – a broken turbo charger belt ending their race.

The Italian Grand Prix continues tomorrow (Sunday 19th) with the final race being most crucial for Chaudron who must do well to retain their V1 Class Championship lead.
