Paul Fenech gets only one match ban despite straight red

Wednesday, April 17, 2013, 11:54

Birkirkara defender Paul fenech will only be suspended for one match after he got red carded in last Sunday’s match against Hibs.

Despite being handed a straight red Fenech will only miss the game against Mosta and will be again available for the next match against Valletta.

This was confirmed just minutes ago by the MFA’s disciplinary board.

In the meantime this siet can confirm that a high MFA official called personally Birkirkara’s Dr Adrian Delia minutes before the latter had to go live on air on Net TV’s programme Replay asking him to be calm and not point fingers at the MFA following the controversial red card of Fenech and the penalty awarded to Hibs by Referee Marco Borg.

Dr Delia was determined to speak about for the injustice Birkirkara suffered during that game.

Straight Red is an automatic 2 game suspension. The Melita player got 2 games I do not understand how rules are changed unless the referee put on his report that he should have given a second yellow and made a mistake. If so this should be explained by the MFA.
