Birkirkara 1 Floriana 0

A match which lacked actions ended in favour of Paul Zammit’s side after a 76minute goal by defender Patrick Borg who gave the full points to Birkirkara in a match which destiny was to end in a draw.

The stripes had Zerafa, Cilia, Vukanac and Harding missing so coach Zammit had to field yet another crisis management eleven man squad. The Greens had missing Christian Cassar.

The end of the match witnessed great joy for all the Birkirkara players especially for the match winner Patrick Borg. The final whistle also brought with it some anxieties in the VIP area by the top Floriana officials who were claiming that Referee Alan Mario Sant made a technical error as according the them he had shown two yellow cards to Paul Fenech of Birkirkara but failed to send him off. On further investigation later on in the evening it was confirmed that Fenech was actually shown only one cution.
