The sizeable crowd present for this game at Mosta Ground were surely pleased with the performance of both sets of players.
Pembroke lead the standings on 48 points from 20 games while Mellieha are in 4th position on 38 points from same number of games.
The first action was created by Mellieha when William Vella was fouled outside the area and the ball hit the defensive barrier from the free kick by Ryan Cutajar and came in the path of Jonathan Cutajar and the ball finished out from his cross, at the other end, Liam Saliba was fouled on the left edge of the area and Nicholas Schembri missed the upright from the free kick shot.
Cutajar then served Julian Agius in the area and Pembroke keeper Andrea Camilleri had to come out of his charge and kick the ball to safety.
Pembroke then mounted two actions in a row. Liam Saliba served Alex Brincat Giles in the area and Mellieha keeper Chris Saliba foiled him with a timely sortie and Brincat Giles served Courage Omoruanze with a through ball and Neil Camilleri foiled him with a timely clearance.
William Vella was again fouled outside the area and the ball was headed away from the free ick by Neil Camilleri, from the same action the ball was passed to Brandon Bugeja who dribbled past two opponents and Saliba saved his effort from outside the area.
In another action by Mellieha Ryan Cutajar dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and Camilleri neutralised the ball from his cross. 
In the first minute of added time Pembroke took the lead when Liam Saliba served Mikhail Scembri with a high through ball on the right flank who after advancing scored with a hard rising shot in the top left hand corner from of the net the right edge of the area.
Soon after resumption Mellieha won two free kicks as William Vella and Luke Camilleri were both fouled outside the area. they were both taken by Jonathan Cutajar and the Pembroke defenders were not troubled as the ball was cleared away with ease on both occasions.
The north sea-siders kept trying.Neil Camilleri served Ryan Cutajar with a through ball who retuened the compliment to Julian Agius in the area and drove slightly over the bar with Saliba beaten, and Ryan Cutajar served Agius in the area and Camilleri had to dive at his feet to foil him.
In a Pembroke reaction Mikhail Schembri served Saliba with a cross from the right flank and he missed the bar by inches from outside the area.
Mellieha then won a free kick in midfield which was taken by Neil Camilleri who floated a high ball in the area and Camilleri brought the house down with a fine save to a corner as he tipped the ball over the bar from a close-range shot by Jacob Farrugia.
Pembroke came close a second goal when Mikhail Schembri served substitute Thomas Camilleri who entered the area and dribbled past the onrushing keeper and the ball hit the base of the upright and finished out.
In the second minute of added time Mellieha obtained a dramatic equaliser. Agius was fouled outside the area, the free kick was taken by Jonathan Cutajar who floated a high ball in the area and in the melee that ensued Neil Camilleri tapped the ball into the net.
