Gzira United Sharlon Pace has spoken to former secretary Tyrone Demanuele after allegations of a rift between the two .

Tyrone Demanuele was criticised in some quarters over his involvement in the club.

“I’ve had a word with Tyrone,” said Pace. “He understands where we come from and I hope it makes a difference.” We both want the best for our club.

But he also said the press had overreacted to the incidents “because it’s Gzira” and we are making progress.

Tyrone Demanule is now expected to change his mind and will submit his nomination for next season committee.

Meanwhile Gzira United starts talks to sign former Valletta midfielder Heiner Backhaus on a free transfer.

The 30 year old was on the books of Westfalia Herne and currently he is in Malta for a holiday. The former Schalke 04 youngster will resume talks with Pace this evening.

Sharlon Pace is also set to keep the heart of the squad that was promoted as he already confirmed goalkeeper Simon Agius, Kevin Cassar, Simon Shead and now he agreed in principle with the current Mosta FC committee that on the 12th June he will sign promising Ryan Deguara for good after he impressed during his loan last season.
