Oiltanking Malta Offshore Race being held today Saturday 27th September

This popular offshore race of approximately 95 nautical miles, will be held once again in the coming weekend and so far nine boats have registered to take part.

This year the race will follow a course in the waters of Malta, Gozo and Filfa.

Boats will start at the Tigne/Valletta Gunpost line, leaving the Valletta fairway buoy to Starboard, the Munxar Cardinal Mark to Port, the Valletta Fairway buoy to Port, the St. Paul’s Bay tuna pens to Port, Gozo to Port, the island of Filfla to Port, the Island of Gozo to Starboard, the Tuna Pens to Starboard, the Valletta Fairway buoy to Starboard, to finish at original start line – Tigne/Valletta Gunpost line. The time limit for the first boat to finish shall be on Sunday at 11:00hrs.

“The Oiltanking Malta Offshore Race is considered to be the ideal shakedown race for crews preparing for next month’s Rolex Middle Sea Race and promises to be a weekend of exciting sailing”, said David Anastasi, Rear Commodore (Sailing).

Prize giving will take place at the Royal Malta Yacht Club on Sunday 28th September.
