Happier times in the Sliema clan

The Sliema Wanderers FC players have not been paid for the past three months this site has learnt. Close sources to the Club have confirmed that their players have been worried lately about this unusual situation. Sliema and Valletta are amongst the local football clubs who are renowned for their monthly financial commitments but as things stand today the only club that has always honored these monthly commitments with its players is Valletta.

Other clubs in the Premier League that have official back dated payments due to their players include Birkirkara, Floriana and Msida.

Local football fans are questioning whether the current negative run by Sliema who have conceded twelve goals in their last three games is just a coincidence combined with the fact that they have not been paid for more than 90 days.

Insiders said that the Sliema Committee was so upset after the U*Bet Quarter Final elimination last week against Hamrun that the players had been informed that there would be a stop payment for a whole month. This decision was then revoked after the players promised their full commitment to make it to the top three positions at the end of the League for the Club to make it to a UEFA Europa League qualification.
