Alan Desira is the new National A Team Kit Manager after the former Kit Manager Frankie Ciantar had to resign from his duties at MFA due to pressure and lack of cooperation from his main employer – The Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs. Close sources to the MFA said that Ciantar who lately took over from Carmelo Gauci (il-Busby) as Kit Manager was finding it very difficult to get the necessary permission from the Abattoir veterinary services. It is reported that this government entity was not cooperative at all with the MFA to release Mr. Ciantaron leave for the home and away fixtures with the National Team.

His successor Alan Desira who is known in the local football scene as one of the hard workers within the Qormi FC Club will be in charge of the daily duties ahead of the training camp in Italy in preparation for the 11th August home fixture friendly against Macedonia. Desira who is also the Managing Director of the lights and music company Twilight has assumed his responsibilities with immediate effect.

In Brief:

Former Qormi Coach Vince Carbonaro has opted to take over the Malta U/17 National squad. He was assisting Jesmond Zerafa last season at Qormi FC but ended up with full coaching responsibilities for the last part of the season after Zerafa’s resignation.

Vittoriosa Stars have confirmed that they have acquired the services of Ian Ciantar, Carl Sammut and Sharlon Pace for the 2010/11 season. Vittoriosa will play their first ever International friendly game tonight against Sheffield United in the JPL 2010 Triangular Tournament in which Hibernians will be also involved.

Floriana’s new chief Johann Said is facing problems at the Vilhena Club as the committee is facing an awkward situation where due to some contractual difficulties they cannot train  at the Floriana 9 a-side synthetic pitch for the time being. Said has opted to transfer the team’s sessions, led by Todor Raykov, to the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun. In the meantime reports that Secretary Dione Borg has resigned keep on reaching our newsroom. Efforts to try and contact Mr. Borg have so far been unsuccessful.

Valletta have taken an abrupt decision to stop honouring their contract with Melita FC to use their pitch in Pembroke for the team’s daily training sessions. Valletta FC have opted to commence this season’s pre-season at the new Zebbug synthetic pitch. The true reason behind this decision is not yet known but close sources to Valletta say that former Dingli coach Jesmod Zammit, who hails from the town of Zebbug, has put pressure on Zerafa to train at Zebbug since the pitch surface there is brand new.
