Neptunes Emirates 17 - Sirens Ritter Sport 9
(4-3)(5-2) (2-2) (6-2)

The champions were back at the top of the standings, when Sirens had to bow to superior opponents, in a match where good averages from man-ups were registered by both sides.

Neptunes scored five times from eight man-ups, and Sirens managed four goals from their six occasions.

Neptunes, with a goal hungry Steve Camilleri, romped to a 4-1 lead, but this was whittled down to a single goal at the session’s end. In the next period the champions rattled in four more, before there were penalties at both ends, with two for the St. Paul’s Bay side. At the interval Neptunes were on a 9-5 advantage.

The third session was a more quiet one, with both teams sharing four goals between them, and Neptunes’ lead remaining intact. The last period saw the champions establishing their dominance once more, as they scored at regular intervals, totalling half a dozen goals, with Sirens’ replies from a couple of strikes.

Steve Camilleri remains at the top of the goal scores list, adding on six more goals, and Michele Stellini and Tamas Molnar came up with hat tricks each. Csaba Kiss was the Sirens marksman, with a poker of goals, two from penalty throws.

Otters Nivea 10 – Ta Xbiex Amigos 11
(2-1)(3-4) (0-4) (5-2)

Ta Xbiex also gained their first win of the season, as they eased out of the bottom position in the table. It didn’t look that way at first, when the Gozitans were ahead after the opening session, and then went 4-1 in front in the next period. Ta Xbiex rallied and were on level terms at the interval, on a 5-5 score.

Otters were at sixes and sevens after the break, when they conceded four goals with no reply, but the heavy Ta Xbiex advantage was nullified in the last session, as Otters drew level.

Two goals from Laszlo Suranyi for Ta Xbiex , and only a single reply from Otters’ Zoltan Radocz, gave the three points to Ta Xbiex, for their first win in four matches against the Gozitans, this season.

Man-ups were few, with Otters scoring their opening one, but failing the other three, and Ta Xbiex were unable to find the net from their three extra player occasions.
