Nathan Lee Xuereb wins silver at European Championships 2012 Cyprus

After the success Nathan Lee Xuereb had in The 3rd Malta International Double Trap Grand Prix, he managed to lead in the qualifications in the Juniors Double trap event at The European Championships 2012 at Larnaca, Cyprus.

Nathan Lee started with 46/50 in his first round, a very good round of 49/50 in his second, followed by 47/50  for a total of 142/150. He qualified for the barrage finals in the top place with Nekrsov from Russia also with 142/150.

During the barrage finals, in very windy conditions, Nathan Lee managed 40/50 for 182/200 to win Silver after a shoot off with Fookev Vitaly of Russia that managed 137+45=182 to win Bronze.

Nekrasov of Russia managed 142+43/50 in the finals for 185/200 to win Gold.

William Chetcuti competed in the Double Trap event where he started well with 48/50. In his second round he managed 41/50, followed by 45/50 for a total of 134/150. They are both being assisted by their coach Jimmy Bugeja.

William’s next International encounter is The London 2012 Olympics on the 2nd August, where he qualified with an Olympic quota place when he won Gold at The ISSF World Cup Beijing 2011.

With the fine results obtained in The ISSF 2012 World Cup Series, by our Double Trap shooters, both William Chetcuti and Nathan Lee Xuereb had qualified for The ISSF World Cup Finals 2012 to be held on the 3rd week of September at Maribor, Slovania.

Maltese Trap shooters James Galea and Rennie Deguara will compete in the trap event on Thursday.
