Muscat and Borg set for Olympic debut

Following William Chetcuti’s 9th place from 24 shooters in the double trap competition, on Friday 3rd August attention will be on swimmer Nikki Muscat and sprinter Diane Borg.

The first to be in action will be NIKKI MUSCAT at the Aquatic Centre in Heat 5 of the 50 metres freestyle. Muscat will be in lane 6 together with Faye Sultan (Kuwait), Jessica Teixeira Vieira (Mozambique), Gabriela Nikitina (Latvia) , Ruta Meilutyte (Lithuania), Pigot Chinyere (Surinam), Taita Bpoglali (Jordan) and Janila Lunkerse (Uganda).
Fifteen year old Ruta Meiltyte of Lithuania who trains at Plymoth Leander in the UK during these Olympic Games in London, surprised by winning the 100 m breastroke .

At the Olympic Stadium starting at 10.40 a.m in Heat 2 of the 100 m – women preliminaries, DIANE BORG will be in lane 5 with her opponents being Nafissa Souleymane (Niger), Asenate Manoa (Tuvalu), Fatima Sulaiman Dahman (Yemen), Shinoona Salah Al-Habsi (Oman) , Cristina Llovera (Andorra) Delphine Atangana (Cameroon) and Kaina Martinez (Belize) . Diane Borg’s season’s best was 11.95 sec.
