MSV Life Masters Football: Mqabba Masters retain unbeaten at the end of the first round

The first round of MSV LIFE MASTERS FOOTBALL came to a close with Mqabba Masters remaining unbeaten and leading the standing with five clear points from their nearest rivals. Mqabba are clearly determined not to let the title slip from their grasp. In their last game against Bank of Valletta again they showed their consistent play and won clearly 12-4. At the end of the first half they were already 5-1 up. Glenn Barry and Garett Magri showed their scoring abilities with three goals each. Bank of Valetta remain at the bottom of the standings being the only team still waiting to register their first win.

Luxol St. Andrew’s had a difficult match before beating Mosta Shaggy Pub 9-7 in a balanced match and each team had the chances to get the three points. Mosta showed progress after lately registering new players, and they only let off in the last minutes with Luxol profiting to get the two important goals for their win to consolidate their second place in the standings. The first half finished 4-4. John Stivala of Luxol scored four goals and Stephan Sultana of Mosta also scored four and is now the leading goal scorer with 21.

In the other match, Rabat Boys had no difficulty to beat JIVAL 10-4 to finish third in the standings. Their best player was undoubtedly Christian Muscat who scored no less than four goals.

Next Thursday at 8pm at the Attard Complex we have the important encounter between the first two teams, Mqabba Masters and Luxol St. Andrew’s. In the first round Mqabba won 6-2.
