Mosta FC have completed the signing of goalkeeper Omar Borg from Birkirkara.

The former Maltese international arrives at the Charles Abela Stadium on a one year loan deal, and signed the agreement earlier this week.

Coach Danilo Doncic has been busy searching for a new goalkeeper in the transfer market this summer, with Jeffrey Farrugia joined Zebbug. made a contact with the 32 year old who confirmed the deal “I am delighted that that i signed for Mosta, after one season playing for Marsaxlokk in first division, i’m looking foward for this new adventure” Borg stated.

The former Marsaxlokk and Msida St Joseph goalkeeper impressed at Marsaxlokk last season, confirm himself as one of the most talented goalkeeper in Malta.

Omar Borg will now have to battle with Jonathan Debono for the starting spot at the Charles Abela Stadium, and it is a challenge he is relishing.

“I’ve been in big competitions wherever I’ve been – with the national team and in Msida st Joseph with Manuel Bartolo and also at Birkirkara with Bernard Paris and Jorge Mora. Now it’s the same again with Debono,” he continued.

“It’s only a good thing – to be competitive and to train as hard as you can, it can only bring the best out of you.

“Debono is a good goalkeeper who has proven a lot at Mosta two years ago. I’m looking forward to working with him, and the goalie coach.

“It’s a challenge but that’s what you want. You want to play in the big games, and to play with pressure.

“I’m very confident in myself and I can’t wait to get the first clean sheet under my belt. I’ve never been a nervous person. I’m quite confident in my own abilities.”

Omar Borg played a key role in helping Marsaxlokk campaign last season and also was a scorer as he converted a penalty in last season game.
