Mosta relegated

Valletta and Mosta played their last game of the season. Valletta ended their comittments in fifth place on 37 points from 22 games while Mosta are relegated to Section B for next season as they ended in thrid from bottom placing on 18 points from 22 games.
 
The first two actions were created by Valletta. Ian Montanaro served Russell Fenech in the area from a cross from the right flank but he drove out when well-placed and Leon Camilleri served Dazio Zampa with a throw-in from the right flank and from the latter’s cross in the area the ball was cleared away.
 
Mosta then mounted two actions. After Daniel Mifsud was fouled in midfield the ball was cleared away from the free kick by Shawn Catania and James Brincat was then fouled outside the area and the ball was again cleared away from the free kick by Shawn Livori.
 
Valletta opened the score in the 17 th minute. Camilleri released Montanaro on the right flank and after he was fouled Kurt Drakazd floated a high ball in the area from the free kick and Andrew Cassar scored with a diving header past a helpless Mosta keeper Emmanuel Borg.
 
Mosta then won a free kick in midfield after a foul on Livori and from the free kick by the same player Valletta keeper Andrew Muscat was forced to tip the ball over the bar for a corner.
 
Valletta palyer Leon Camilleri was then fouled on the right flank by Josvael Azzopardi who was shown the yellow card and the free kick by Drakazd created havoc in Mosta’s area but somehow the ball was cleared to safety.
 
The score became 2-0 in the 31st minute when Valletta won a corner kick on the right flank which was well-taken by Drakadz and Camilleri again scored with a header. 
 
Mosta then created the last action before the break when Brincat served Mifsud in the area and Muscat fopiled him with a timely sortie.
 
Four minutes after restart Valletta won a free kick in midfield as Daniel Spiteri handled the ball and Borg saved the free kick shot by Drakadz.
 
Valletta keeper Andrew Muscat had to come out of his charge to kick the ball to safety after Mifsud was put through in the area by Saliba and later saved a free kick shot by the same player, and at the other end, Andrea ellul served Montanaro in the area and Borg foiled him with a perfect timely sortie.
 
Mosta reduced the gap in the 58th minute when Brincat was fouled on the right flank and the same player scored with a hard rising shot.
 
Muscat then saved a free kick by Kyle Vella after the same player was fouled on the left flank, and in the last action before the end, Dozmond Micallef seerved Drakadz in the area and Borg foiled him with a timely sortie.
