More activity by the Weightlifting Association

The Malta Weightlifting Association had two activities going on this weekend. The first of these two activities was the exhibition held at MacDonalds in Bugibba as part of the Olympic Week Festival.

Two clubs took part in this exhibition, Starmax and Cottonera. The Public was entertained by the positive lifting all athletes exhibited.The second activity was the 5th Competition for this year’s rankings. The three participating clubs were Cottonera, Noble and Falcons.

The Falcons club introduced two new members Joran Farrugia who gained 65 points and Hayden Farrugia gained 104 points. Two other lifters made an encouraging comeback, Stephen Borg gained 193 points and Clive Zammit gained 220 points. Other good results were achieved by young Rylee Borg and Cleaven Cutajar.

The two most outstanding lifters in this competition were Rodmar Pulis who achieved 240 points and Clint Grech gained 263 points. Lifters are currently in preparation for the Local Clubs competition which is to be held on the 17th July. At the end of this week the President of the Association, Mr.Jesmond Caruana, will attend as a referee in The Weightlifting World Champions to be held in Penang Malaysia.
