Italy’s former striker Michele Padovano will be in Malta on the 30th June for the official launch of the Juventus Club Cuore Bianconero (Imrieħel)’s 2013/2014 membership campaign.

Padovano’s career started in 1985 with Serie C2’s club Asti. From there, he advanced through the ranks and signed with other well renowed clubs such as Pisa, Napoli and Genoa before signing for Reggiana for the 1993/1994 season. At Reggiana he scored 10 goals in 29 games, and a series of impressive performances caught the eye of Italy’s top club Juventus F.C. which bought him for the following season.

His time with Juventus marked the best time during his career, so much so that he was chosen by Italy’s Cesare Maldini to feature for Italy’s national team in 1997. With Juventus he gained the reputation of a super sub as he was frequently subbed in and decided various matches through his goals. With Juventus, Padovano won the 1996 Champions League, where he signed the 2-0 goal against Real Madrid in the final. He also won the 1996/1997 Serie A title, the 1996 Super Cup and the 1996 Intercontinental Cup. Unfortunately, in 1997 Michele Padovano suffered a hard knee injury during a training session with Italy – an injury which marked the end of his career at the highest levels and resulted in him becoming a reserve at Juventus F.C until he was eventually sold to Crystal Palace in England.

During his stay in Malta, the Juventus Club Cuore Bianconero in Imrieħel will be organising a programme of events to mark the official launch of the club’s membership campaign for next season. This will be the club’s second season, after closing the first with 860 paid members – the highest amount of paid members for a Juventus supporters club in our islands.

Further information and the full programme of events will be announced on the club’s Facebook group – Juventus Club ‘Cuore Bianconero’ Malta.
