Birkirkara 1 – Qormi 4

Malta’s captain Michael Mifsud was on top form in his comeback in the local Premier League as he scored three goals in Qormi’s win against Birkirkara in Saturday’s first match at the National Stadium.

Mifsud scored two of his three goals in the opening seventeen minutes of the game with goals scored on the 13th and 17th minute. Birkirkara managed one back to go 2-1 behind for the Half time talk when Rodolfo Alemao scored on 23 minutes.

Birkirkara had Trevor Cilia and Joseph Zerafa out of action while they could not utilise thier last signing Babatunde as his international clearance had not yet reached the MFA offices. Paul Zammit’s side had a very positive start to the second part of the match as they pressed all out for the draw but were very poor at the back in fact Qormi managed to secure the three points with Mifsud’s third goal on the 7oth minute. Qormi were awarded a penalty in the last minutes of the game which was well taken by Josue Santos Souza for a 4-1 final score.
