Michael Mifsud joins Valletta FCTuesday, March 9, 2010, 13:43
The news was announced yesterday evening by the club’s vice president Paul Spiteri on the popular programme L-Argument on One TV.
As a product of Sliema Wanderers, Mifsud made his debut in the 1997-98 season, appearing seven times and scoring a goal. However, the striker distinguished himself in the following three seasons with 73 appearances, scoring a magnificent number of fifty-nine goals.
This lead Michael to establish himself in the international scene where in the past years, he played for Kaiserslautern, Lillestorm together with English sides Coventry City and Barnsley.
Mifsud also proved to be fundamental for the Maltese National team. On March 3, 2010, he surpassed Carmel Busuttil’s goalscoring record with the national team, as he hit the back of the net for Malta in the friendly match against Finland which finished with a scoreline of 1–2 for the guests.
