Michael Mifsud inspires Valletta, Birkirara registered second league win

Michael Mifsud scored one and provided an assist, as the Citizens dominated on Mosta, who suffered their second loss of the season.

Valletta took the lead when Michael Mifsud get past two Mosta defenders before his low shot gave no chance to helpless Justin Haber, after he was served by rejuvenated Shaun Bajada. The Champions continue to press forward and a free kick by William Barbosa was close to hit the target.

Valletta manage to double the lead as a corner taken by Denni, there were Ricardo Barretto who headed in an empty net after some sloppy defending by Mosta defence.

Mosta replied with Daniel Mitev free kick just missed the target.

Valletta continue to show their superiority as former Steve Borg low shot beaten Justin Haber for the third time after he was served by Michael Mifsud.

Mosta reduced the gap by last season top scorer Obinna Obiefule as he was in the right place to connect with Mano Micallef cross. The Nigerian could be playing his last match for the Blues as his a target for host of foreign clubs.

Birkirara registered second league win

Ryan Camenzuli marked his second start of the season with a man of the match performance which set Birkirkara on their way to a second successive league win to move on top of the table with Valletta and Hibernians.

Balzan Youths were behind when Shola Haruna, 24, netted his first goal, before Rowen Muscat doubled the lead in the first half.

Malcolm Licari reduced the deficit minutes before the end of the match to scored his 99th league goal of his club career.

But the former Youths could not force an equaliser as they slipped to first league defeat.

Birkirara broke the deadlock when off a cross by Ryan Camenzuli, Jhonnathan deflected the call to Haruna Shola who beaten Matthew Camilleri with a low powerful strike.

The Stripes mange to double the score as another cross by Ryan Camenzuli was meet by Jhonnathan, who tried his luck with a powerful strike and Rowen Muscat flicked in the ball inside the net.

10 minutes before the end of the match youngster Ryan Scicluna was given the marching orders as he fouled Matthew Mendy just outside the penalty box.

In the injury time Balzan Youths reduce the gap as veteran Malcolm Licari headed home Pedro Dos Santos Calcado cross.
