MFA does not want to reveal names of alleged corrupted players

In my opinion the MFA chiefs are too afraid of the fact that local football Clubs may be upset if the names of the players that have allegedly been involved in the 2007 Norway v Malta game are out.

I personally think it is a shame that Norman Darmanin Demajo has the names of these players in hand but does not want to initiate an immediate internal investigation by the competent corruption board which is already set within the MFA organisation. Despite being in possession of the transcript in the German language of the Bochum trial, the MFA President has informed the MFA Council that he will ask the General Secretary Joe Gauci to inform the Malta Police that the MFA has this transcript in its possession.

“I confirm we have seen the names in the transcript of the trail but will not mention any names as we will ask the police to investigate further”
This is a yet a confirmation that the recently appointed President and his CEO do not want to upset member Clubs with whom these 5-6 players are registered with. It is very ironic that despite the general public’S call for these names to be named, Darmanin Demajo and Bjorn Vassallo have decided not to assume any responsibility and therefore putting all the pressure and shifting the responsibility on the Malta Police.

The transcript of the Bochum trial in which Ante Sapina and Marijo Cvrtak were convicted with a prison sentence, has reached the MFA thanks to UEFA which had put pressure on the German prosecutors to send the documents to Malta without further delay.

Additionally the MFA is considering applying to be as Parte Civile within the criminal case Police vs Nikki Dimech. The former Sliema Mayor and ex Sliema Wanderers Committee member said during his latest arraignment last Monday that he is aware of two corruption cases involving local football.
Mr. Dimech is currently being accused of bribery in connection with commissions he allegedly received from contractors who serviced the Sliema local Council.
