Women’s Challenge trophy in Bulgaria

The Women’s national team returned from Bulgaria last week. Though losing all 4 matches the team managed to register good progress against tough oponents. This was the third appearance of the team in a Challenge Trophy only this time the category was set for U-23 players. Many new faces composed the team under the guidance of coaches Jospeh Tanti and Twanny Xuereb. The results of the Maltese squad in the group stages were as follows:

Israel v Malta 22:12

Malta v Faroe Islands 5:41

Malta then lost its placement match againstArmenia10:22. For most of the players forming the U-23 squad this was their first official national call. The young team showed character and determination which augurs well for the future.
