Mediterranean Weightlifting Cup to be held this weekend

The Malta Weightlifting Association is in the final preparation to organise the 5th Mediterranean Cup. The activity kicks on Wednesday 20th October with the International training camp guided by two Italian professors namely Febi Massamiliano and Verdala Carlo.

This training camp to be held at the Cottonera Complex is scheduled for three days with two daily sessions, one from 9.30 to 12.00 and the afternoon session scheduled from 16.30 to 18.30. On Saturday a Seminar then will be organised  at the Seashells Resort, Suncrest Hotel which will also be open to the public. Subjects to be treated will be  Stabilometric analysis, Static and dynamic baropodometry and functional recovery. The seminar is to be run by professors Tor Vergata from the University in Rome and from the Institute of Sport and Medicine of the Italian Olympic committee.

Present in Malta for this particular event will be Dr. Tamas Ajan President of the International Weightlifting Federation and member of the IOC, Dr. Antonio Urso President of European Weightlifting Federation, Dr. Addidi Amar President for Mediterranean Games and many other distinguished guests.
On Sunday 24th then a competition will take place at Cottonera Sports Complex. This competition will be open for both males and female athletes with the participation of Italy, France, Spain, Slovenia, Serbia, Kosovo, Cyprus, Turkey, Albania, Libya, Lebanon and Malta.
Malta is to participate with two teams. Team A will be composed by Noel Coleiro, Christian Saliba, Clint Grech and female athlete Nicole Gatt. Team B will consist of Stephen Borg, Emanuel Camilleri, Rodmar Pulis, Ryan Agius and female athlete Kimberly Coleiro. Competition program starts at 10.30am
