MBA has nothing to do with September 22 event

The Executive Council of the Malta Boxing Association would like to inform the general public and everyone  concerned that it disassociates itself from the boxing event being held on the 22nd September 2017 in Sliema. In this event, a boxer currently under a 4 year suspension by the National Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (Sports Malta) for breaching the WADA Code Anti-Doping regulations, and also has pending Court cases relating to drugs, will be participating. Such boxer is also suspended by the European Boxing Union (EBU), of which the MBA is an associate member. Apart from that, no other boxer or official taking part in this event is licensed by the MBA to participate.

The event of the 22nd September is not sanctioned by the MBA and therefore none of the athletes, officials or licensed staff is permitted to participate. Participation by boxers, coaches, officials and staff who are licensed by the MBA in non-sanctioned or licensed events is a breach of regulations and will result in disciplinary actions being taken them.
