Qormi clinch fourth place as Mxlokk stunned

Final Score Qormi 3-1 Marsaxlokk

Qormi scored two goals in the first half and another one in the second part of the game to move ahead along with Sliema Wanderers in the fourth place.

Qormi had a perfect start as Jorge Pereira Da Silva open the score on the seven minute mark and on the half an hour mark Joseph Farrugia struck home from the penalty spot. In the second half Jonathan bondin scored his first of the season and the third in the game.

On the 90th minute signal Marsaxlokk ended the game with ten men after defender Clive Brincat was sent off for two yellow cards.

Qormi now have thirteen points from eight games while Marsaxlokk only have seven points from eight games.

Qormi coach Stephen Azzopardi opted for an initial 4-1-3-2 formation as Nigerian striker Daniel Nwoke started as the main striker supported by Brazilian Jorge Pereira and Bello Osagie. Qormi were coming from a 1-0 defeat by Mqabba.

Marsaxlokk mentor Winston Muscat started with a 4-4-1-1 formation as dissapointing so far Dylan Kokavessis started behind striker Nigerian Obinna Obiefule.

First Half

5min: A Joseph farrugia free kick finished just inches out.

7min: Goal for Brazilian striker Jorge Pereira Da Silva as he headed home a perfect cross from the left.

9min: Another typical free kick by Joseph Farrugia skimmed the upright.

24min: Matthew Farrugia saved a 30 meter shot by Nigerian Obinna Obiefule

29min: Joseph Farrugia scored from the penalty spot after Pereira was tripped in the box by Malcolm Licari.

Second Half

54min:Marsaxlokk goalkeeperf Reuben Gauci kept his teamates in the game after he turned to a corner a Bello Osagie powerful shot.

65min: Nigerian striker Daniel Nwoke missed a sitter infront goalkeeper Reuben Gauci after he was served by Bello Osagie.

67min: Defender Roderick Sammut cleared off the line Marsaxlokk’s midfielder Emilliano Lattes shot.

76min: Rueben Gauci saved on Joseph Chetcuti.

77min: Minute later Jonathan Bondin made it three for Qormi as he concluded from inside the penalty box.

94min. Martin Deanov lobs the ball over a helpless Farrugia for a final score of 3-1.
