On Saturday the MCA Cricket Summer league continued where the two top teams, Marsa C.C and Melita C.C battled it out. Unfortunately it was a small battle where the Marsa team were dominant in every department.

The Melita team batted first and were in deep trouble early losing their openers for five runs. Both were captured by Tony Azzopardi. Matt McKeogh set about trying to restore stability in the line up, he was Frank Spiteri’s first wicket of three. McKeogh made twenty one runs. Chris Riordan made thirteen runs. Andy Naudi was Melitas shining star scoring forty one runs from thirty balls which included four fours and a six. Apart from that the Melita tail Enders fell apart and were bowled out for 107 runs. For Marsa other wicket takers were Ronnie Sacco with three wickets and Waseem Abbas with two.

The Marsa reply was relatively calm, Frank Spiteri opened and made thirty three runs before being lbw. Zubair Raja made seven runs, Haroon Majeed made twenty eight runs. Ronnie Sacco (twenty one runs) and Waseem Abbas (sixteen runs) saw the Marsa team to victory, not only for the game but for the Summer League title. With still four games to be played the Marsa team have won all their games and have one game to play. Well done Marsa C.C.
