Monday, April 9, 2012, 12:53

Another first for Maltese Target Shooters, all members of our club, is the qualification to stage 2 in the NSRA/Eley Postal Shooting Competition 2012. Out of the seven shooters in 3 shooting disciplines, 5 shooters managed to qualify for the first time with excellent scores. These are Eleanor Bezzina (375) and Stephen Vassallo (366) both in air-pistol, Alison Bezzina (341) in air-rifle and Lawrence Darmanin (387) and Romeo Zuber (383) in Prone Rifle. They will soon be receiving medals from The National Smallbore Rifle Association of England who were the organizers of this very popular competition. It is estimated that some 8 000 shooters from all over Great Britain participated in this year’s edition of this postal competition.

These shooters will now participate in the stage 2 competitions which will be organized in Malta and the targets will be sent to England for scoring and eventual classification. Any of our shooters qualifying in stage 2 will then make it to the finals that will be held in Bisley UK next August for the Prone Rifle and the following October for the air-gun events. Good Luck to all our shooters.
