The Gzira united striker Anthony Ewurum has signed a one-year contract extension, the club confirmed with sportinmalta.com

The deal means the 27-year-old is set to play again for the Maroons after he rejected several offers from Premier League clubs. The former St George’s striker was signed after an impressive season with Vittoriosa  Stars in the Premier League two years ago.

Gzira United also confirmed Irish midfielder Jimmy Hussey for another season after he left  a good impression in his first season in Malta

Early this week Gzira United have signed veteran duo Jeffrey Chetcuti and Pierre Grima on one year contracts.

Jeffrey Chetcuti, 38, was on Qormi’s books last season and will reunited with his old friend Sharlon Pace.

Pierre Grima, 31, also reached an agreement with Pace last week after several years with relegated Mqabba.

“Both are players who are hungry for glory and with winning mentalities,” said Gzira defender Sharlon Pace

“Jeffrey and Pierre are both players we have been monitoring for some time and we are very pleased to be able to bring them both to the club.

“They will add considerable quality and experience to the squad.”

Gzira United also reached an agreement with defender Clayton Micallef and now are in talks with Hibernians to take the 28 year old on loan. The Maroons are also targeting Premier League players as the Pace family are showing interest in Floriana striker Ryan Darmanin and John Mintoff as the latter is not set to be retained by the Greens.
