After winning the very first medal for Malta in the Bowling World History, having placed in 3rd place in the Singles Event, Spiteri wrote another chapter for Tenpin Bowling.   He succeeded in placing 12th in the All Events, with a 211.67 in all the 3 events added together.  Thus, he won the right to play in the Master where the Top 24 bowlers from all over the world competed in a knockout stage, in best out of 3.

Mark’s opponent was the mighty 6 ft 6 leftie from Norway – Ingar Gabrielsen.  Spiteri lost the first game, but then managed to nip the 2nd in a very tight score. In the end it was the Norwegian who prevailed with a 2-1 score to pass through to the next stage.

Mark Spiteri was accompanied by Kenneth Arpa, Dennis Mercieca and Steve Cassar whose 923 game in the 4 men team placed them on the record books for one of the highest games recorded for any Maltese Team playing abroad.

Special thanks goes to the Malta Tenpin Bowling Association for making this possible and to visitmalta.com who sponsored this event.
