Roderick Fenech has signed a new three-year contract extension with Hamrun Spartans according to club president Daniel Sullivan this afternoon. The announcement puts an end to the intense debate surrounding the 25 year old for over the last months, with his future seemingly destined to be away from the Reds.
The much delighted Sullivan said, “We are delighted Roderick has committed his future to the club,” he said. “This kills all the silly speculation over the past few months.
“Fenech has developed into one of the best center-halves in Malta and we are pleased he will be here for many years to come.”
The younger brother of Ryan debuted in the Maltese Premier League back in 2006.
Bulgarian Atanas Marinov is back to Maltese football and will be appointed Hamrun’s technical director and to assist club’s coach Stefan Sultana.
Marinov will also bring 5 new foreigners to start their trial with Hamrun Spartans. The former Birkirkara coach, who guided the Stripes to their first league triumph also coached St Patricks, Valletta and Marsaxlokk during his 12 year stay in Malta.
Hamrun Spartans are also in talks to re-sign former Roderick Bajada from Sliema Wanderers. The Reds are in talks with Sliema Wanderers to either sign him on loan or for good. The 29 year old is keen to resume his career with his hometown after an indifferent campaign with Sliema Wanderers and champions Valletta.
