Maltese Shooter Wins Gold and 5th Place in UK Competition

Top Maltese prone rifle shooter, Lawrence Darmanin, has last weekend attained a historic 5th placing in the final of the Eley/NSRA Class D shooting competition that took place at the Bisley Shooting Camp in London. Out of some 120 shooters from all over Great Britain that took part in this class, Darmanin initially placed in 8th position after second stage of the competition where the first 22 shooters were awarded with a gold medal for their achievement. The final was then organised in Bisley for these first placed shooters of all classes for a competition consisting of 40 shots at 50m. In this shoot under the most difficult weather conditions, Darmanin finished in joint 4th place with a score of 378/400 points but was finally classified in 5th place on countback.

After the event Mr Clive Scrivens- Commercial Manager of Eley Ltd who together with the UK National Smallbore Rifle Association sponsored these great shooting competitions, presented the awards to the top shooters of the various classes amid great cheers from the sizeable crowd present.
