Fifty year old Hilary Galea Lauri is currently in the UK attempting to cover a 1600km cycle in aid of inspire. He is now in Wales.

He started last Monday from Land’s End in the farthest south-westerly point of Great Britain, and  is now in Wales.

The terrain so far has been extremely hilly with some 16% gradients and climbs of over 7,000 feet in one day.

Such routes require a great deal of confidence in one’s ability to handle a bike,as well as resilience to persevere despite the obstacles that inevitably occur.

Yesterday Hilary experienced a snapped chain ring which threw him off his bike. He missed a turning due to road works and had to face a punishing long detour to get back on route.

Hilary is cycling with terrible headaches, a tootache and numb fingers due to cold winds and  long hours on the bike.

He is however in good spirits and motivated in the knowledge that others in society and under the care of Inspire Foundation are benefiting from this trip.

Donations have now reached €7,000. “With €3,000 to reach our €10,000 target, I’m confident generosity will prevail,” said Hilary.

Donations to support Hilary and ultimately The Inspire Foundation can be made via www.inspire.org.mt by sending an SMS with Hilary in the text to : €6.99 – 50618926  |  €11.65 – 50619215.
