Malta w’polo players to face Spain, Slovakia and Turkey

ASA NATIONAL WATER POLO TEAM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LEN QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENTS EUROPEAN WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010 IN ISTANBUL TURKEY BETWEEN 30 APRIL  AND 2 MAY 2010

Following  the  success  of  the ASA Water polo  National  team  in the LEN Championships B  in Lugano held last summer where the sixth place was obtained,   Malta  will now be   playing in Group A against Spain, Slovakia and Turkey in the LEN European Water polo Championships 2010 being held in Istanbul Turkey between 30 April and 2 May 2010.

The teams playing in the Qualification Tournaments are the 7th to 12th placed at the European Water polo Championships  of 2008 held in Malaga and the 1st to 6th placed at the recent European B Water polo Championships held in Lugano in 2009.

Group A

Spain, Slovakia, Turkey, Malta

Group B

Macedonia, Greece, France, Slovenia

Group C

Romania, Russia, Netherlands, Great Britain

The first two placed teams from each of the Qualification Groups will join six squads who directly qualified to the European Water polo Championships being held in Zagreb in 2010. The teams directly qualified to the Championships are: Montenegro, Serbia, Hungary, Croatia (also as host country), Italy and Germany.
