According to the ETC’s website, the Malta Volleyball Association (MVA) is seeking to engage the services of a national team coach on a full time basis. Applicatons for the advertised role of national team coach will be accepted until the 4th April 2011 while the contract runs from the 17th March till the 15th June 2011.

This job opening comes just over two months after the MVA acquired the services of Serbian Srdjan Veckov in the beginning of January 2011. Initially the vacancy was advertised on a reduced hours basis, but a few days later this was later changed on the ETC’s website to a full-time job.

Veckov’s mission is to prepare the national indoor and beach volleyball teams for the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) being held in Liechtenstein at the end of May, while he is also involved in the youth sector of the MVA.

According to a recent press conference given by the MOC, Malta’s chef-de-mission, Mark Cutajar, informed those present that the indoor volleyball teams have been dropped from this year’s GSSE selection. The door is still open for the beach volleyball teams, as the MOC is in discussions with the MVA on the possibility of taking these teams up to Liechtenstein.
