Malta Under-17 paired with Montenegro, Spain and Poland

In the 2011/12 UEFA European Under-17 Championship Qualifying Round, held on Monday at the UEFA Headquarters, Malta was paired Montenegro, Spain and Poland in Group 11.

The final tournament will be held in Slovenia in May 2012 with the qualifying round and the elite round determining the 8 teams to qualify. The single-venue mini tournaments played in autumn 2011 will see 52 countries battling it out split in 13 groups.

The top two in each group plus the two third-placed teams with the best record against the leading pair in their pool progress to the elite round in spring 2012, which will produce seven finalists to join Slovenia.

The mini tournament for group 11 in which Malta is participating will be held on the 19th, 21st and 24th October in Montenegro.

2011/12 UEFA European Under-19 Championship Qualifying Round

Malta has been drawn in Group 12 for the 2011/12 UEFA European Under-19 Championship Qualifying Round. The draws held this morning in Nyon had 48 teams split into 12 groups with our Youth team being paired against the following countries:

Group 12

Austria

Denmark

Malta

Albania

Hosts Estonia have their finals place assured and top ranked countries like England, France and Spain receive byes to the Elite Round. 

Every group will play in a one-venue mini-tournament. The top two in each group plus the third-placed team with the best record against the leading pair in their section joining the top three seeds in the elite round in spring 2012, which will produce seven finalists to join Estonia

The Mini tournament for Group 12 in which Malta is participating will be held on the 5th, 7th and 10th October 2011 and the hosts will be Austria.
