Malta U21 to face Sweden,Turkey,Greece and Poland in Euro Championships

When the draws were made in Nyon, Switzerland, earlier today for the Euro Championship 2013- 15, Malta were drawn in Group 7 with Sweden, Turkey, Greece and Poland. Present for the draws where the National Under 21 Coach Ray Farrugia, under 21 team secretary Rodney Pisani and the MFA Vice President Alex Manfre.

 

There were 52 teams in the pots with the ten top-seeded teams heading the groups, two of six and eight of five teams. The first-placed ten teams in each group together with the best four runners-up will proceed to the play-offs from which seven teams will emerge and eventually join the host nation, the Czech Republic, in the last eight of the competition to be staged in June 2015.

 

Fixtures for each group, including that of Malta, will be scheduled after consultation among the participating teams in the next few weeks. The group stage matches can start as early as the 22nd March 2013.
